9th MAY 2010
SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

‘My own peace I give you’.  Much of what worries or pre-occupies us, and disturbs our peace, actually doesn’t matter very much.  All things are under the providential care of God, who loves us a fills us with his life.

A special welcome today to Ben Daniel Lawson, who joins us in the fellowship of the Universal Church through Holy Baptism.  Welcome, too, to his family and friends.

• Toilets are to the left out of the main door.
• Please let young children explore.
• Collection during the second hymn.
• Large print hymn books are available on request.

WEEKDAY WORSHIP Attendance on weekdays has been very disappointing recently, especially for a parish
with a long tradition of daily worship.  Please can we do better, especially on Tuesdays and towards the end of the week?
The maintenance of this distinctive feature of our tradition is being left to far too few.

BAPTISM OF EMILY ROSE THRELFALL next Sunday.  There is a list at the back of the church for you to put your name on

EASTER  THOUGHT
Do we believe in Christ’s gift of peace to us and, if so, how do we give witness to our belief?
What is the nature of the gift of peace?  Does it insulate us from reality, or does it enable us
to deal with the concrete events of everyday life more effectively?  It must be the latter because
Christ came to sanctify the ordinary material stuff of the world; and his proclamation of the Kingdom
was not simply a spiritual message with an ‘other-worldly’ hope, but a hope for the present.
