NOTES
PLEASE NOTE: Although the Bishop has lifted the ban on the chalice,
the practice of intinction (dipping the consecrated Host in the chalice)
remains prohibited. This affects only a very small number of people here,
and they are asked either to receive the Sacrament in one kind or by
actually drinking from the chalice in the normal way.
PLEASE PRAY each day, respectively, for all who live in The Grove,
The Parade, Ullswater Crescent, Victoria Street, Warton Road and Wartonwood View.
TOP TEN CAROLS at Keer Sands at 6.00pm today. Mulled wine and mince pies. £4.00, children free.
COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS SERVICE Tuesday, 7.30pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Kellet Road.
CHRISTINGLE SERVICE Wednesday, 6.30pm in church with the school. Do come. Proceeds to The Children’s Society.
EXTRA FOR ADVENT – SILENT PRAYER before the Blessed Sacrament exposed,
following on from the 7.15pm Mass. Come along for the hour or just come and go as you please.
It’s an oasis in the midst of a busy time.
CUMBRIA FLOODS Blankets, bedding and children’s toys are needed.
Please let Fr Chris have anything you can spare. Thank you.
CHRISTMAS STARS These are now available for purchase,
so that you can send your Christmas greetings to people
in church rather than buying Christmas cards. Stars are £5.00,
so we make some money and get a beautiful wall display as well.
Do support this and, if you pay tax, please use a GIFT AID envelope and mark it ‘Christmas Stars’.
Thank you.
READERS Please collect your readings from the sacristy. Thank you.
CHRISTMAS WINDOW POSTERS Please take one today and display it prominently.
FORWARD!plus, the latest issue of the free paper of Forward in Faith,
is available in church today. Please take a copy.
CHRISTMAS FAIR netted £1066 for church. Thanks to all.
ADVENT THOUGHT
The keynote of today’s celebration is joy.
It is ‘Gaudete’ (Rejoice) Sunday – see the first word of the Entrance Antiphon.
At the mid-point of Advent, the Church reminds us of what we are preparing for,
namely, the coming of the Lord to bring us salvation. We are called to share the
‘feeling of expectancy’ of which today’s Gospel speaks, and to commend the message to others,
inspired by the humility of the Baptist’s proclamation.

Please take this bulletin home with you. You are welcome to stay for refreshments after the 10.00am Mass.
