THE BIBER ENSEMBLE

Louise Latham, violin

Mary Dainton, cello

Ann Bond, harpsichord

In a programme of virtuoso German and Italian baroque music. This music was written with the express intention of showing off the dazzling possibilities of the violin, and there are some amazing things to hear! Louise is well-known in the north-west for her dramatic and expressive playing.

ORGAN RECITAL BY ADRIAN SELF

Adrian is the organist of Cartmel Priory. He is a well-known and very charismatic musician and his programme is guaranteed to be wide-ranging and enjoyable.

We are delighted to welcome back Morecambe Brass Ensemble and Youth Band to Christ Church after an unavoidable gap last year. They will be giving a resoundingly popular programme.

FR CHRIS’ PRIESTLY ORDINATION 10.00am next Sunday, with the Bishop of Burnley. Wine and soft drinks to follow, in church. We expect a considerable number of visitors.

FR CHRIS’ INAUGURAL MASS is at 7.30pm on the Monday, when we shall have the Vigil Mass of SS Peter & Paul. This will be followed by a reception in the school hall. (Please note this mass will replace the usual feast day Sung Mass on the 29th)

PILGRIMAGE TO LADYEWELL 5th June

The annual FiF and Society of Mary pilgrimage to Ladywell is taking place on the 5th June. Rosary Procession and Mass at 12noon, devotions including sprinkling at the Holy Well will take place during the afternoon.

Please sign the list in church if you require transport.

Bring a packed lunch with you.

HOLY WEEK
2010
at Christ Church Carnforth

Holy Week is a journey on which we are companions of Christ.
It is the heart and centre of the Christian Year. In Holy Week
we deepen our beliefs by publicly and together re-enacting and
re-stating them. As we do so, we join with Christians the world
over and down the centuries. The events of Holy Week are a unity;
there is no Easter without Good Friday, and Good Friday is
robbed of its real meaning without Easter. Decide, then, to be a
companion of Jesus; make the journey of the world’s salvation with him.

THE EASTER VIGIL
This is the most important service of the year. We celebrate Jesus’ triumph over sin and death. We bless the New Fire and the Easter Candle which represents Christ as the Light of the World, and we hear scriptures which tell of the history of our salvation. We renew our baptismal promises and seal our union with Christ in Holy Communion.
(Drinks in the Vicarage to follow – please bring a bottle.)
