THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Mary enjoyed a unique relationship with Christ and played a crucial part in God’s redeeming work.  Today, we rejoice that God saved her and raised her to the glory of heaven, a glory in which we are all called by God to share.

We extend a special welcome today to Benjamin Robert Burns, Eva Laura Robinson, and Alex Frank George Robinson, who join us in the fellowship of the Universal Church by baptism.  Welcome, too, to their families and friends.

• Toilets are to the left out of the main door.

SATURDAY COFFEE in aid of the Organ Fund, 10 – 12noon in the choir vestry.  Do call in if you are around and about.

CHURCH PATH Please could we have some volunteers to help tidy the path along the south side of the church?  Grass and weeds are a constant problem here and it’s looking very tatty at the moment.  This doesn’t need to be co-ordinated: it just needs some people to come down and pull up, and in some cases dig up, the offending items, whenever you might find it convenient.  Given that most of the church cleaning is done by women, perhaps some of our men-folk might come forward for this…

FLOWERS Is there anyone else who would be interested in helping with the church flowers on a rota basis?  If so, please see the list at the back of church.  For now, Susan Garth and Fr Chris are the people to contact regarding flowers and to receive money for them.  Thank you.

HOLIDAYS if you are going away, please remember to attend the Eucharist.  We can advise as to suitable places to worship, with times, if you ask.

HOLIDAY PERIOD Please try to support the parish’s daily worship at a time when people are away; and please call in whenever you are near, so as to improve security during the school holidays.

READERS Please collect your readings from the sacristy.  Thank you.

GUILD OF THE SERVANTS OF THE SANCTUARY are  having a Mass at Cartmel Priory on Saturday this week.  Fr Chris is going – if you would like to go, please have a word with him.  He will be setting off from here at 11.30am, there will be a picnic lunch and Mass at 2.00pm.

CROSS-BAY WALK Shania Baxter, of Hawthorn Class, is doing the walk on 21st August in aid of a new cookery and craft room for the school.  If you would like to sponsor her, there is a form in church.
