We celebrate the anniversary of the dedication of our parish church, committing ourselves afresh to faithful discipleship and enthusiastic worship.

A special welcome today to Eleanor Catherine Hughes and her family and friends.  Eleanor is to be baptised today.

THE SOCIETY OF ST WILFRID AND ST HILDA Most people here, happily, joined the Society recently, in order to try to ensure that traditional, orthodox Anglicans will have an enduring place in the Church of England.  The first newsletter of our local branch (Blackburn and Carlisle dioceses) is now available in church today.  Please take a copy.  If you’d like to join, there are also application forms – please fill these in and let one of the clergy have them.

NEXT SUNDAY we celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving at the 10.00am Mass.  Again, we shall support Lancaster and District Homeless Action, so non-perishable items are preferred.  Thank you.
HARVEST FLOWERS If you would like to donate, please give any donations to Susan Garth or one of the clergy, in a GIFT AID envelope if you can (marked accordingly).  Saturday at 10.00am – decorating and preparing the church.  Do come and help if you can.
‘WHAT’S THAT CALLED?’ Following on from Fr Chris’ letter in the Magazine, copies of this short introduction to the vestments, vessels and furnishings of the church are available today, priced at 20p.
CHURCH FLOWERS If you have agreed to help with this, there is a letter for you at the back of church today.  A meeting and demonstration has been planned for Monday 10th October (after the 7pm Mass) – this will include a practical demonstration and basic tips from two experienced arrangers from Warton.  Light supper and wine to follow.  All welcome – please contact Fr Chris to book a place.
WALSINGHAM CELL next meets at St Barnabas, Morecambe, for Mass at 7pm on Wednesday 19th October, followed by a meeting.  All welcome.
PLEASE INDICATE on the list in church, as soon as you can, if you would like to go to the Installation of Honorary Canons in the cathedral on 20th November.  Early indication will help any transport arrangements that may be made.  Thank you.
CHRISTMAS CRAFTS Following the success of last year’s project and stall, Karen Coe, Lesley Simon and Fr Chris are planning another day making crafts to sell at church and around the town.  The craft day is Monday 7th November from 10.00am.  Please sign the list if you would like to come along, and see any of the above for more information.
FR CHRIS  is at St Christopher’s Blackpool today.

MISSION STATEMENT There is a meeting in church at 7.00pm this evening for those who offered to help us to get started on the reconsideration of the parish mission statement.

*PLEASE PRAY FOR   Fr David Morgan, of Adlington, who celebrates 40 years as a priest on Tuesday.  The 12 noon Mass here is to be offered for God’s blessing upon him.

CONGRATULATIONS to our director of music, Ann Bond, who has a big birthday this week!

THANK YOU to all who sponsored Amelia Haygarth recently.  Amelia raised £112.00 for the Isle of Skye Mountain Rescue.

WALSINGHAM PILGRIMAGE Those of us who have recently returned from Walsingham would commend to everyone the benefits of the pilgrimage.  Please consider the possibility.  We intend to go next year, and more details will be given as soon as possible.  It’d be good to take at least one or two people each year who haven’t been before, or who haven’t been for a long time.

ADDITIONAL CURATES SOCIETY Northern Festival, Saturday this week at St Luke’s, Southport.  Mass at 12 noon, with Bishop Tony Robinson of Pontefract presiding and preaching.

MISSION STATEMENT If you offered to help us revise the parish Mission Statement, there will be a meeting to begin this process next Sunday at 7pm.  Please meet in church.

INSTALLATION OF HONORARY CANONS Sunday 20th November at 4.00pm.  Fr Stephen is asked to give an idea of numbers intending to be present in the cathedral.  There is a list at the back of church.  Please place your name on it if you’d like to go, though there is no expectation on Fr Stephen’s part upon anyone.  So please don’t feel guilty if you can’t or don’t wish to go!  Thank you.
