What’s really important to us? Material things, or that which is of ultimate and eternal significance? In practice, we can often find ourselves torn.  Today, we’re reminded that, in the Eucharist, we receive the bread from heaven, here and now.  What can be more important?

Parish Notices

Rosary tomorrow at 7.30pm.  Requests for prayer can be made on the prayer board in church (please date any requests, which remain for a month, unless they are redated).

Please do all you can to help us maintain our daily worshipping life, during this period when so many people are away. Thank you.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary The principal feast of Our Lady in the calendar is on Wednesday 15th August.  It is a day on which we should all be present at the altar, having the rank of a Sunday.  Masses at 9.15am and (sung) and 7.30pm.

Safeguarding Given that the well-being of children and vulnerable adults is the shared responsibility of all of us, the diocese is providing online training which may be undertaken by anyone.  Those who hold particular responsibilities in the life of the parish should look to level C1; any others to C0.  This may be found at www.blackburn.anglican.org – Safeguarding, training programme 2017/18.

Vigilance Please look into church whenever you’re near, to improve our security over the holiday period.

Holidays Please make sure you’re able to attend the Eucharist on Sundays if you are away.  Suitable churches in this country may be found at www.sswsh.com

Parish Website We are seeking someone to look after our website. Please see Fr Stephen if you could do this for us.

Lectio Divina Please let Fr Stephen if you’re interested. Five people have now expressed a continuing interest – we could do with, say, three more.

Readers Please collect your readings from the sacristy.
