REFLECTION
Resisting temptation is about sitting light to the material things of this world.
During Lent, Christians often ‘give up’ some of the things they enjoy.
This discipline, carried out in the right spirit, is not an act of spiritual
masochism but a means to our being reminded that, one day, we shall have to give up
everything, trusting solely in God for our fulfilment.

REFLECTION
Lent often seems to be regarded by Christians as a gloomy season characterised by negativity.
But is it the springtime of the church in which we are renewed as we turn to God afresh.
Thus, Lent is a gift given to us by God through which can order our priorities afresh.
Yes, Lent is a penitiential season but, for Christians, penitence should be embraced with joy,
for God, in Christ has done all that is necessary for our salvation.
